초대형 태풍 하이엔으로 엄청난 피해를 입은 필리핀에서는 많은 재속프란치스코 회원들도 피해를
입었다고 합니다. 이에 필리핀 국가평의회는 국제평의회를 통해서 긴급하게 도움을 요청해 왔습니다.
이 요청에 부응하여 한국 국가평의회는 긴급 구호성금을 전달하기로 결정하고
11월 13일 1,000만원을 필리핀 국가형제회로 송금을 했습니다.
이 성금은 국제적인 재난에 대비해서 전국의 회원들이 일 년에 한 차례 2차 헌금으로
봉헌해준 성금을 비축해 두었던 기금에서 보내드린 것입니다.
구호성금을 받은 필리핀 국가봉사자 이본 자매와 국제평의회 아시아지역 책임자인 루시 자매가

Dear brothers and sisters in Korea:
Peace and blessings!
In behalf of our national fraternity and Council, please accept our sincerest gratitude for the assistance that you have sent for the victims of the supertyphoon.
Just a short update: By God's grace, some of our sisters and brothers in those badly hit areas have been located and are now safe with their families, although we we are still awaiting word from other fraternities. We have already sent more boxes of medicines for the medical mission being conducted, and more basic goods will be sent as soon as we shall have received the donations. (You know, bank clearing may take a while, so Garlene, our treasurer, is actively following them up.) We hope to send more in the coming days and to help them get back to normalcy through vital but bigger projects, like assistance for the construction of dwellings and providing a means for them to start a livelihood, etc. God willing I will be with them next week to support them and help assess their needs.
Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts for all your prayers and for the financial assistance. May God reward you a thousand-fold.

짧게 여기의 상황을 말씀드리면, 하느님의 은총으로 피해가 심한 지역의 몇몇 형제자매들의 소재를 파악하였고, 그들은 지금 가족들과 안전하게 있습니다. 그리고 다른 형제회의 소식은 아직 두절된 채로 있습니다. 우리는 의료봉사에 필요한 몇상자의 약품을 보냈습니다. 원호금을 찾는대로 (아시다시피, 은행절차가 좀 시간이 걸리고, 그래서 우리 회계담당인 갈린이 적극적으로 은행을 접촉하고 있습니다) 기본적인 필수품을 더 보낼려고 합니다. 앞으로 더 많은 구호품을 보내고, 활기차고 더 큰 계획을 통해 그들이 정상적인 생활로 돌아올 수 있도록 도울 수 있기를 희망합니다. 이를테면 주택의 건설을 돕는다든가, 생계를 시작할 수 있는 수단을 마련해준다든가 하는 일입니다. 하느님께서 바라시는대로 저는 그들을 돕고 그들이 필요로 하는 것이 무엇인가를 파악하기 위해서 다음 주에 그들을 방문할 생각입니다. 다시 한 번 여러분의 기도와 재정적인 도움에 대해 저희 마음 깊은 곳으로부터 감사드립니다. 하느님, 천배로 갚아주소서.

I have been away for two weeks and now about to leave for my provincial home where part of our property was destroyed by the typhoon. Our family count it as nothing in the face of the devastation and loss of lives in Central Philippines.

We are moved by the generosity of your national fraternity with your substantial donation for the victims, even as I gratefully acknowledge your contributions to the China Project which make it possible for the mission to bear fruits.
During the Congress in Korea, three things impressed us deeply: the unique way the Church of Korea was founded by a layman; the numerous martyrs who shed the blood for their faith; and the exemplary lives of Korean OFS. Obviously, the legacy continues to live in the present OFS of Korea.
Thank you, OFS of Korea, for your good example, and may the good Lord bless you with vocations that would make the inspiring legacy live forever.

친애하는 카타리나, 아오스딩, 그리고 한국의 OFS 여러분,

2주일 동안 외국에 나가 있었습니다. 이제 지방의 고향집에 가려는 참입니다. 고향집의 우리 재산의 일부가 이번 태풍으로 파괴됐습니다. 우리 가족은 중부 필리핀의 극심한 피해와 인명손실에 비하여 이것은 아무 것도 아니라고 생각합니다. 우리는 피해자를 위해 큰 기부를 한 여러분의 국가형제회의 관대함에 감동하고, 중국프로젝트에 대한 도움에 감사합니다. 그러한 도움으로 중국프로젝트가 결실을 맺고 있습니다.
지난 아시아 오세아니아 대회 중에 3 가지가 우리에게 깊은 인상을 주었습니다. 첫째는 유일하게 평신도에 의해 설립된 한국의 교회, 둘째는 신앙을 위해서 피를 흘린 수 많은 순교자, 셋째는 한국 OFS들의 모범적인 삶입니다. 분명 이 전설은 현재의 한국 OFS 안에 계속해서 살아 있을 것입니다.
한국의 OFS, 여러분의 선한 모범에 감사합니다. 좋으신 주님께서 이 영감어린 전설이 영원히 지속되도록 성소로서 여러분을 축복하소서.
